Marion Hall, best known by the stage name Lady Saw, a Jamaican singer and a songwriter,  was born on 12 July 1972, in Galina, Saint Mary located in the Jamaica country. She was always interested in music and singing since her childhood.

2002

Awarded by Grammy Award

Lady Saw is the first female deejay to win a Grammy Award and to be certified as a triple-platinum artist in 2002. After that, she came to the spotlight to the audience such that she was widely known as the Queen of Dancehall. 

1987

Took the name "Lady Saw"

Marion Hall took the name "Lady Saw" after the famous Jamaican singer Tenor Saw, who inspired her music in 1987. Her performances brought her to the attention of record producers and she recorded her first single for producer Piper, and "Love Me or Lef Me".

1996

Released "Give Me The Reason"

Saw released her second album "Give Me the Reason" in 1996. The album became known for its explicit sexual lyrics which was showcased on songs "Life Without Dick" and "Name Nuh Stand Fi Sex". And then again she released another album named "Passion" in 1997.

2004

Fifth album "Strip Tease"

In August 2004, Lady Saw released her fifth album named "Strip Tease". The album charted at number 84 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and number 14 Billboard's Top Reggae Albums chart which gave her a big hit.

Marion attended Galina Primary School as a child. During her teen years, she had a sewing job at The Free Zone in Kingston, Jamaica. At the age of fifteen, she began performing with local sound systems.  She went on to work with the Stereo One system in Kingston. She is a Dancehall rapper who had her third top 10 reggae album with Walk Out in 2007. She followed that up with "My Way" in 2010. She won a 2002 Grammy Award for her No Doubt collaboration, Underneath It All.
