Kurt married Sonia Rodriguez

Before Kurt and Sonia got married on June 30, 1996, they dated for 5 years. One of the most difficult things to do is asking someone to marry you. Even the most confident person gets nervous to utter the four words Will You Marry Me even when in a private setting.

But Kurt is no ordinary man. When he asked Sonia to marry him, he did it like a champion. He popped the question in front of 16,000 people and national TV audience.

Going through the details, Kurt while entertaining the crowd during the taping of the Stars on Ice show in Toronto’s Maple Leaf Garden was asked by one of the audience if he was married. He just skated away and called for his girlfriend Sonia and to the surprise of everyone he dropped on his knee and asked Sonia to marry him.

Sonia just nodded from the audience and came down to give Kurt a kiss. Isn’t that just romantic?

Well, looking at the pictures shared by Sonia on her Instagram account they look like one happy family. Despite their busy career, both have worked very well to give time to their little ones. When asked about how the couple’s home life is different by ParentsCanada, Kurt said,

We just got to the stage where we’re used to Gabriel running up and down the stairs by himself and then along came another one, and so you had to apply a whole new set of rules to a littler one.

When asked to Sonia about their celebrity status affecting their kids, she said,

I think it’s just part of their everyday lives. They don’t really comprehend very much that it’s something extraordinary in a way. If they see a picture of us in the paper or something, that’s just something we do. I think Gabriel gets more proud when he sees pictures of himself in the paper or magazines. He likes that a lot.
