Updated On 21 Mar, 2019 Published On

It's been nearly three weeks since Kristoff St. John passed away and the cause of death of the late Young and the Restless star has finally been revealed.

In a statement to Us Weekly on Tuesday, March 19, the Los Angeles County coroner’s office said that the television personality had died due to heart disease.

The cause of death was listed as "hypertrophic heart disease" with "effects of ethanol." His death has been reported as accidental.

As we previously reported, the veteran actor was found dead in Woodland Hills on February 3, four years after his son, Julian St. John, committed suicide following his treatment for mental health issues.

An autopsy report showed at the time that Kristoff passed away from a possible alcohol overdose.

His ex-wife, Mia St. John, with who he had been married from 1991 till getting a divorce in 1995, paid tribute to him by sharing in a since-deleted tweet.

She wrote at the time,

THAT HOSPITAL KILLED OUR SON @TheArtofJulian THEN MY HUSBAND @kristoffstjohn. THATS WHAT HAPPENED! THEY KILLED MY FAMILY.

Kristoff, who played Neil Winters on the CBS hit series, had become engaged to his loving girlfriend, Kseniya Mikhaleva, who is a Russian model, in September 2018.

He was also previously married to ex-wife Allana Nadal (2001 - 2007).

Rest In Peace Kristoff St. John!
