Kristi Yamaguchi was home-schooled for two years in order to accommodate her training schedule before graduating from Mission San Jose High School. After graduation, Kristi joined skating and started taking ballet classes, as she was a victim of clubfeet since her childhood.

A prominent skater Kristi made her skating career debut along with Rudy Galindo, who is also a figure skater. With the assist of Rudy, Kristi won the World Junior Championships and Senior Pairs Title at the U.S. Championships, by which they came into the spotlight. However, the stage partner separated after 4 years of their relationship and both of them decided to focus on their solo career.  

Kristi is a very hardworking woman who has successfully won the hearts of millions of fans. Besides, she has also established the Always Dream Foundation for children, whose aim is to provide facilities such as computers, clothes, food, etc for underprivileged children.   

Kristi is also an author of many books such as Always Dream, Pure Gold, and Figure Skating for Dummies. A former American professional figure skater, author, philanthropist, and the founder of the Always Dream Foundation, Kristi Tsuya Yamaguchi was born on July 12, 1971, in Hayward, California, USA, to her parents Jim Yamaguchi and Carole Yamaguchi.  

Won the Junior Title


Kristi Tsuya Yamaguchi won a junior title at the U.S. Championships in 1986, before winning the World Championship titles along with the professional figure skater Rudy Galindo. They worked together for approximately four years but eventually split up to start a solo career.     


Won the World Championships


After splitting from Rudy Galindo and starting a solo career, Kristi became 1991 world figure skating champion, which was held in Munich, Germany. Besides, she also attended the psychology classes at the University of Alberta and the same year, she was placed second to Tonya Harding at the U.S. championships.


Established Always Dream Foundation


Apart from the figure skating career, Kristi Yamaguchi established the Always Dream Foundation for children in 1996. This organization mostly cares for the underprivileged children providing the facilities of food, clothes, shelter and other basic needs.
