Kip Niven, 'Magnum Force,' 'Alice' and 'The Waltons' Actor, Dies At Age 73

Harty Condolence! Kip Niven, the veteran actor best known for playing a young rogue motorcycle cops in Magnum Force (1973), has died. He was 73.

His other notable appearances are in television shows like Alice and The Waltons.

According to the Kansas City Star, which was first to report the sad news, Niven passed away on Monday, May 6.

Local radio station KCUR-FM reported that the cause of death of the late actor was a heart attack.

Niven portrayed a legendary University of Kansas basketball coach Phog Allen in 2014's sports drama film Jayhawkers.

The movie was written and directed by Kevin Willmott, a University of Kansas professor who recently won an Oscar screenplay for BlacKkKlansman.

His other films credits include Midway, Swashbuckler, Damnation Alley, New Year's Evil, The Painting and Raising Jeffrey Dahmer.

His television appearances include Marcus Welby, M.D., Barnaby Jones, Emergency!, Spencer: For HireHart to Hart, Knight RiderKate & Allie and Law & Order.
