Kim Kardashian wasn't aware that her husband Kanye West was going to appear on TMZ on Tuesday, May 1. When she found out she was as surprised as the country was.

West, 40, went live on TMZ and he made some controversial comments about slavery, saying slavery is a choice.

During his conversation on 'TMZ Live' with Harvey Levin and Charles Latibeaudiere, the rapper said,

"When you hear about slavery for 400 years. For 400 years?! That sounds like a choice. You were there for 400 years and it’s all of y’all. It’s like we’re mentally in prison. I like the word ‘prison’ because ‘slavery’ goes too direct to the idea of blacks. Slavery is to blacks as the Holocaust is to Jews. Prison is something that unites as one race, blacks, and whites, that we’re the human race.”

Kanye also included Donald Trump, saying,

“I just love Trump. That’s my boy. Like so many rappers—you’ll look at a video of Snoop Dogg loving Trump but then he gets in the office and now they don’t want to love him.”

“Trump is one of rap’s favorite people,”

The Heartless singer is generating a lot of attention for his comments over slavery. And many are upset with his comments.

“Kim was really upset that Kanye chose to have a very serious discussion in a place like that,”

a source told US Weekly on how Kanye's wife felt about his comments.

“And because she wasn’t given a heads up about it beforehand.”

“Kanye shared a lot of his passionate words, which was important to him but had they been said in a different setting and time, they would have come across in a different way,” the insider added. “A lot of things he said were very serious. If he had said them in different, more planned out way it would be a different story, even positive.”

The source added,

“Kim is trying to be a supportive wife … but it is hard.”
