Kevin was born to mother, Kathleen Ann, a secretary, and father, Geoffrey Fowler, a technical writer and data consultant. Although he was born in New Jersey, later his family moved to Southern California when Kevin was four years old. Kevin’s brother Randy stated that their father was a physical as well as a sexual abuser and a Nazi, child rapist.
Spacey enrolled at Northridge Military Academy, Canoga Park High School for the 10th and 11th grade. In 1977, he graduated from Chatsworth High School in California. While he was in school, he starred in ‘The Sound of Music,’ playing Captain Georg von Trapp.
He even tried to become a comedian for several years before joining Julliard School in NYC, where he finally studied drama from 1979 to 1981. During that time, he performed as a stand-up comedian in some talent shows.
In 1981, he made his first professional star appearance in New York Shakespeare Festival. He started his career by being a stage actor in the early 1980s and later he began to gain critical acclaim, in 1990s.

In 1991, he won a Tony Award for his roles in "Lost in Yonkers." Besides, he hosted the 71st Tony Awards in 2017. He has also won a Golden Globe Award for best actor and Screen Actors Guild Awards for outstanding performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series.
Recently, in October 2017, he was accused of sexual harassment to an actor, Anthony Rapp, when he was 14. In the wake of this accusation, later it was revealed by other actors that they were also sexually assaulted by Spacey. Because of this, Netflix broke up with him and removed him from the cast of House of Cards’s last season.
Back in 1992, Spacey was dating Dianne Dreyer, who was a script supervisor. In 2000, together they were spotted at the Academy Awards where he even said, "Dianne, thank you for teaching me about caring about the right things and I love you." Before, it was rumored everywhere that he could have been gay, but he later revealed in interviews that it wasn't true. But again, recently in 2017 itself, he confessed that he had an encounter with males as well.
