Kevin Guthrie is a Scottish actor best known for his roles in Sunshine on Leith (2013), Terence Davies’s film Sunset Song. In 2011, he performed the lead role of Peter Pan at the King’s Theatre, Glasgow.
Kevin Guthrie was born in Neilston, East Renfrewshire, Scotland on March 21, 1988, to mother Louise Guthrie and father, Gordon Guthrie. He was raised in Neilston alongside his two older sisters. He attended the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (then Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama).
He then attended the PACE Youth Theatre in Paisley and appeared in small roles in films and television. He received the title role in the National Theatre of Scotland’s production of Peter Pan in 2010. He graduated in 2011 with a BA in Acting.
In 2013, Kevin got a lead role in Dexter Fletcher’s Sunshine on Leith as Ally where he co-starred alongside George MacKay, Antonia Thomas, Freya Mavor, and Jason Flemyng.
He was cast as the lead in 2014 on Sunset Song, as Ewan Tavendale alongside Agyness Deyn and Peter Mullan.
He also appeared in many TV series which include Two Doors Down (2013) as Ian, Still Game (2005) as Thomas for one episode, Half Moon Investigations (2009) as Tommy Flynn in one episode, and The Field of Blood (2011) as Sean for two episodes.
Kevin has participated in numerous movies such as Ratcatcher (1999) as a Boy, The Legend of Barney Thomson (2015) as MacPherson, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016) as Abernathy.
In 2016, Kevin made an appearance in the remake of the 1949 Ealing Studios Classic Whisky Galore. The film was released in the UK in May 2017. He also appeared in Christopher Nolan’s war epic Dunkirk alongside Harry Styles, Tom Hardy, and Kenneth Branagh among others.
Guthrie is scheduled to appear in Edie which will be released in mid-2018, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald as Abernathy in 2018, and in the TV Series The Terror as Peglar.
