Kevin Fret, the first openly gay artist within the Latin trap music genre, was shot and killed in San Juan, Puerto Rico on Thursday, January 10.
The pop singer, 24, was on his Yamaha motorcycle when he was shot at approx. 5.30am. on Thursday.
Police confirmed to El Nuevo Dia that Kevin was rushed to the Medical Center of Río Piedras with injuries related to the shooting where he died later that same day.

In a statement issued by the late musician's manager, Eduardo Rodriguez, said, "Kevin was an artistic soul, a big-hearted dreamer. His passion was music, and still had a lot to do."
This violence must stop. There are no words that describe the feeling we have and the pain that causes us to know that a person with so many dreams has to go. We must all unite in these difficult times, and ask for much peace for our beloved Puerto Rico.
Kevin, who entered the Latin trap music world in early 2018, made his singing debut with Soy Asi.
His works were also featured on Mike Duran's Diferente, which had made nearly 2 million views on YouTube.
According to multiple sources, Kevin was an outspoken advocate for the LGBTQ community. Authorities are investigating the incident.
Funeral services for the late gay artist will be announced in the coming days. Rest In Peace Kevin Fret!
