Kader Khan, the veteran Indian actor, screenwriter, comedian, and director, died in a hospital in Canada on Monday, December 31, news agency PTI has confirmed. He was 81.
As for his cause of death, the Bollywood star's son Sarfaraz Khan told the news agency that his father died due to prolonged illness.
He told PTI, "My dad has left us. He passed away on December 31 at 6 pm as per Canadian time due to prolonged illness. He slipped into coma in the afternoon," adding, "He was in the hospital for 16-17 weeks."

The last rites will reportedly be performed in Canada, Sarfaraz confirmed.
He said, "The last rites will be performed here in Canada only. We have our entire family here and we live here so we are doing it."
Khan breathing issues had developed after which the doctors transferred him from a regular ventilator to BiPAP ventilator.
Amitabh Bachchan had shared a tweet days before Kader's passing. He wrote on December 28, "PRAYERS and DUAS for his well being and recovery".

Actress Raveena Tandon, who has had the privilege of working with the comic actor in multiple films including Dulhe Raja and Main Khiladi Tu Anari, paid tribute to him saying "bowled over by his comic timing".
