Soon after his high school graduation, Jon Seda joined gym and began to work out with a dream to be a boxer. In the late 1980s and early 1990, he also boxed in several gyms and finally won the 1990 New Jersey Golden Gloves Competition. He won five times that year.

After claiming several awards as a boxer, Jon Seda auditioned for the role Romano in the movie Gladiator. He finally earned this role and he made his acting debut by starring the role of Romano in an American sports drama film Gladiator.
