John Stamos' Fairytale Engagement with Caitlin McHugh in Disneyland

Updated On 26 Oct, 2017 Published On

John Stamos, the Daytime Emmy Award-nominated actor, singer, and instrumentalist, has decided to tie the knot again. This time around it is with no other than Caitlin McHugh, best known for her recurring role as Sloan in The Vampire Diaries.

The lovebirds had initially maintained silence about their relationship, hardly disclosing anything about their private lives.

On one occasion, John had even said, “We like to keep our lives private because we’ve seen what relationships in the public eye can be like and we just like our privacy. We don’t want the commentary from the masses about what our relationship is or should be. We’re very happy together and we hope to be so for a long time.”

Proposal in the Dreamland

But with John proposing to his girlfriend, Caitlin, on Sunday at Disneyland, the cat is finally out of the bag. And according to the sources, he did so in an incredible manner. To make sure his lady love won’t say no, he went ahead and put together a really cute film consisting of some of the most romantic moments from Disney and Pixar productions. And sure enough, when Sebastian (from The Little Mermaid) encouraged John to 'Just ask the girl' at the end of the film, he did so and Caitlin ended up by saying yes.

John finally announced his engagement On Sunday night, when he took to Instagram to share his excitement with his 2.2 million followers. The sitcom star even tagged the snap he took at Disneyland, a place he loves to visit with his girlfriend, who, it turns out, is a huge fan of the House of Mouse. His representative entered the scene later, giving details about the big day to Good Morning America on Monday, October 23

John's early life and career

Born to a Greek restauranteur father, William "Bill" Stamos, in Cypress, California, in the mid 60’s, John is the eldest of three children. He has two sisters, Alana and Janeen. Enamored by the Beach Boys, he attended his first concert of the band at the age of 15. He would later tour with the band.

Stamos’s first big break came in 1982 when he began his acting career with the role of Blackie Parrish on the TV series General Hospital. He would be nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award in 1984 for his role in the soap opera. His television career seems to have paid really well for John. As of May 2017, his net worth is around $40 million.

While John has carved a niche for himself in the TV, McHugh, who graduated from Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy in La Cañada Flintridge, California in 2004, has been busy in both movies and TV shows such as Switched at Birth, I Am Legend, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Rescue Me, Castle, Kings and The Vampire Diaries.

Besides acting, the 31-year-old actress is passionate about "music dogs and Disney”. She regularly posts images of herself playing the ukulele.

This is the second marriage for both of them. John was married to Rebecca Romijn from 1998 to 2005, when they divorced, while Caitlin was wife to Massimo Lusardi
