Speaker of the House of Commons John Bercow is a well-respected politician from Britain. Recently Bercow gave his opinion that president Donald Trump cannot be allowed a parliament as he accused him of sexism, racism, and judiciary independence attacks.
Due to Bercow’s straightforward opinions, he has to bear fear of losing his position at present. Rumors claim that Bercow can even be stripped off his power.
Let’s find out more.
Various government sources expressed their strong criticism over Bercow’s comment about president Trump as they say that the Speaker must be neutral politically. Being in such a strong position and speaking about such a complicated issue mustn’t have been an easy job for Bercow. He didn’t make such accusation out of the blue.
President Trump has made offensive comments about women, has accused Mexican immigrants of being criminals and rapists, ordered an extensive Muslim ban, has made the chief of a far-right website as chief strategist. That’s why a huge number of people agreed when Bercow made such comments about the president.
Bercow apologized to his counterpart in the Lords, Norman Fowler later for making such comments about Trump. Fowler revealed in a statement that he wasn’t consulted by Bercow about the decision or timing of the Commons.
He further cleared that he accepted Bercow’s apology as he was sorry for not consulting with Fowler before expressing such views.
