Initially, Jo performed live as a comedian with a Melbourne comedy group The Toasted Marshmallows or The Gorskys. She has also performed along with Jodie J Hill numerous times in Melbourne International Comedy Festivals. Later, Stanley started a career in radio with Fox FM on Sunday Nights with Jodie J Hill. Then she moved to morning program Jodie & Jo which became a success. She also hosted a comedy show Boob Tube, and radio show, The Whole Shebang along with Jodie.
Besides her radio career, Stanley was a contestant on It Takes Two, an Australian singing competition show. However, she was eliminated in the final round of the show. She also appeared in a short movie, Corrections in 2008.
Moving towards her personal life, Jo Stanley is married to her long-term boyfriend Darren McFarlane since 1999. The couple gave birth to their first child, Willow, in 2009 and are living happily together. It's been eighteen years, and Jo and Darren are still together.
