Jean Ann Ford, Benefit Cosmetics Co-Founder, Dies At Age 71

Jean Ann Ford, the cosmetics guru who co-founded the makeup brand Benefit Cosmetics along with her sister, Jane Ford, has died at the age of 71. She spearheaded her brand's popularity among Hollywood stars.

A spokeswoman for the makeup brand company confirmed her death with releasing a statement to WWD. The spokesperson told the news journal that Jean passed away on January 17 at her home in Tiburon, California.

The statement reads, "It is with great sadness we share that our beloved co-founder, Jean Ann Ford, has passed away."

It continues,

Jean leaves behind a makeup dynasty, a legacy of creativity and the belief that 'laughter is the best cosmetic.'

As for the cause of death, she reportedly died after a long battle with cancer.

Jean co-founded Benefit, then a small makeup shop, 'The Face Place' in San Francisco’s Mission District, in 1976. She initially embarked on a modeling career but later decided to become an entrepreneur at the age of 29.

Jean is survived by her identical twin, Jane Ford; her daughters Ann Ford Danielson and Maggie Ford Danielson; and four grandchildren.

Memorial services for the late businesswoman will be announced in the coming days. Rest in Peace Jean Ann Ford!
