Jay DeMarcus is opening up about some truths about his personal life! The Rascal Flatts artist has just released his new memoir in which he has discussed putting his first daughter up for adoption years ago.
He released the memoir, Shotgun Angels: My Story of Broken Roads and Unshakeable Hope, on Tuesday, April 30, and the bassist revealed in the book that he has fathered three children but not two.
The music artist, 48, writes in his memoir that when he was in his 20s, he and then-girlfriend, Maggie, accidentally conceived a child after having sex for the first time.
He mentions it one of the most difficult moments of the book.
Noting that he realized the condom was broke, he wrote, "We'd had sex one time, but I knew it. I knew she was pregnant."
He writes that he had been dating Maggie for only one month, but they considered to get married and the children themselves.
However, he added that the pair quickly realized it would be a mistake.
He writes that there was only one option to do: "Abortion was never an option, so we began to discuss adoption."
Jay shares in his memoir that he never got to hold his first daughter before they placed her up for adoption.
The pianist married actress Allison Alderson in 2004 and the couple shares daughter Madeline, 8, and son Dylan, 6, together.
