Jason Alden, "SNL" Pays Tribute to Vegas Victims And Late Tom Petty

Saturday Night Live has paid tribute to the Las Vegas mass shooting victims and the late rock superstar Tom Petty, opening its show with country music star Jason Aldean singing one of Tom Petty's songs.

Jason performed Petty's I Won't Back Down during the live opening Saturday night before he introduced the show.

Jason was performing at an outdoor concert in Las Vegas last Sunday night during which a gunman named Stephan Paddock sprayed bullets into the concertgoers crowd from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel, that left 59 innocent people killed nearly 600 injured.

Meanwhile, Tom Petty died the next day in Los Angeles at the age of 66 after suffering cardiac arrest.
