James McAvoy and Alicia Vikander Are Ocean-Crossed Lovers in First 'Submergence' Trailer

Lionsgate has revealed the first international trailer for Submergence, a romantic drama movie, starring Alicia Vikander (Tomb Raider, Ex Machina) and James McAvoy (Split, X-Men franchise), and they look ocean-crossed lovers in the trailer.

The romantic thriller revolves around two lovebirds separated by thousands of miles thinking back to their intense love as they navigate life-or-death situations, with Alicia exploring the ocean floor in a submersible while James held captive by jihadists in Somalia.

Submergence is  J.M. Ledgard’s 2013 novel-based film, which was named one of the 10 Best Books of that year by New York Magazine. The screenplay is by Erin Dignam, who is the screenwriter of Sean Penn’s upcoming movie The Last Face, with Cameron Lamb producing for Backup Media and Lila 9th Productions.

Wings of Desire filmmaker, Wim Wenders directed Submergence, which will hit the US cinemas on April 13 and UK cinemas on May 18.
