Dancer and choreographer James Jordan won the immensely popular dance TV show, Dancing On Ice beating out Wes Nelson who came in second and Saara Aalto who came 3rd. More than 2 million votes were cast by the public and they chose James as their winner.
Jordan was the underdog as people hugely favored Wes to win the competition. In fact, he was so shocked with the announcement that he nearly collapsed from shock. His wife, Ola Jordan was also overpowered by her emotions and was crying as she applauded her husband’s victory.
Barely holding himself together long enough to speak with the hosts Holly and Phil, he said,
Oh, my word. I couldn't have given any more.
And the only reason I had to give so much was that little thing there.
As he pointed at rival Wes.
The viewers of the show were absolutely delighted with the result and took to Twitter to lay heaps of praise on James Jordan. They especially praised Jordan for his willpower as he overcame a shoulder injury to win the finals.
He fell awkwardly on the ice while rehearsing his dance routine and was forced to go off the ice. Instead of practicing the routine he was spending time in the medical room trying to get back to full fitness.
The star suffered a dislocated shoulder after falling in the ice, which made him unable to skate for a camera rehearsal.
Likewise, the final of the show was full of drama and talking points and even created a bit of controversy after Jason Gardiner made an insensitive comment when asked for his opinion on Wes’ skate. He said
Wes and Vanessa, you know you’ve smashed it when I can sit back here and just perv.
The comment created lots of controversy in the media as well as on social media where some people even remarked that they were disgusted by Gardiner's remarks.
