Jake Hurwitz started his career as he was still in college; with a book The College Humor Guide to College, and started writing a column for the comedy website CollegeHumor. After he had transferred to Hunter College, he became an intern at the company – CollegeHumor. Later working full time, he wrote and acted in original videos. Hurwitz then became a cast member on The CollegeHumor Show in 2009.

Jake and Anna appeared on the Webby Awards together in 2010, where Jake got awarded for his acting. Later that year the two moved to Los Angeles together and separated in 2012.
