Redick started his basketball career at the college. He attended Cave Cave Spring High School in Roanoke, Virginia where he won All American basket ball game at MVP in 2002.
J.J Redick scored 43 points as a senior player during the Virginia state championship game and defeated the George Wythe High School of Richmond. Following Clay joined Duke college where he played for four consecutive years.
Redick was selected at the 11th position in the NBA draft by the Orlando Magic. With Orlando, he played against Trevor Ariza and Keith Bogans as shooting guard spot for two years(2007-2008). Later he was pulled from the team due to lack of defense during the pre-season.
In 2013 he joined the Los Angeles Clippers through a sign-and-trade three-team deal where he played 116 games and won 92 games.
