Actor Idris Elba will be replacing Will Smith as Deadshot, in the Suicide Squad sequel which is set to be released on the 21st of August 2021.

According to Variety, Idris Elba met director James Gunn on March 1, 2019, to discuss matters to replace Will Smith as Deadshot in the Suicide Squad franchise.

The reports further indicate that the meeting between the actor and the studio to be quite fruitful.

Its a very quick decision from the production house after last week Will Smith decided to sign off from the franchise, due to his conflicting filming schedules.

Since Will's departure, Warner Bros were in a turmoil whether or not to cast the Deadshot character and replace it with an entirely new character.

Now that the decision has been made, it now appears Suicide Squad will be back on tracks.

However, there are further tensions rising as the studio is unsure as to whether Margot Robbie would join Idris in the sequel since the actress is busy filming her Bird of Prey, set to be released in 2020.

Now what's left to be seen is to what other characters would follow Idris Elba in his Suicide Squad.
