Hugh Dancy was born as Hugh Michael Horace Dancy on 19th June 1975, in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England and raised in Newcastle-under-Lyme. He was born to his mother Sarah Dancy and father Jonathan Dancy and grew up with his siblings, Jack Dancy, co-director of the travel company Trufflepig Trave and Kate Redman. His father works as a philosophy professor at the University of Reading and at the University of Texas and his mother serves in academic publishing.
