She was the 1995 American Junior Golf Association Junior Player of the Year. She played in the Curtis Cup in 1996 and was the low amateur at the U.S. Women's Open.

In April 1995 she made the first professional victory in the Ironwood FUTURES Classic on the Futures Tour, but she was still an amateur at that time.
