Houston Girl, 13, Dies After Being Jumped by Classmates

A 13-year-old girl from Houston, namely Kashala Francis, Texas has died after slipping into a coma following a fight with her two classmates.

The two teens jumped her while she was walking home from school. The victim's mother, Mamie Jackson, told ABC station KTRK-TV that one assailant kicked her in the head.

Kashala, who was a student at Attucks Middle School in Houston, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, at Texas Children's Hospital.

Doctors discovered a tumor in the back of her head and the tumor reportedly exacerbated by the fight she had with her classmates on Thursday, April 18.

It unknown and pending an autopsy if injuries from the fight caused the death of the 13-year-old or if she passed away as the result of the tumor.

According to a spokesman for the Houston Police Department, Victor Senties, the incident is being investigated as a homicide and an autopsy is being performed to determine the cause of death.

No arrests have been made yet.
