Congratulations are in order for Hoda Kotb! The Today host surprised everyone on Tuesday, April 16, by announcing that she has adopted a second child, a new baby girl.
She has named her new daughter Hope Catherine Kotb. The middle name of the baby comes from the journalist's best friend’s daughter.
Kotb called into 'Today' Tuesday morning and told the show about welcoming a new bundle of joy to the family.
She told the morning show during the call, "It’s a girl! It’s a girl. I can’t believe that I’m here! I’m so happy to be here."
She added,
You think that you’re full… and Joel [Schiffman] and I were standing there when they hand you the baby and it’s the closest thing you’ll get to a live birth,” she recounted. “It’s amazing. I can’t believe it’s happening!
Kotb also said Schiffman, 61, rarely cries but when he met his new daughter, he broke into tears. She said, "I can’t imagine any of this happening. We hoped and prayed about this."
The couple is dating since 2016. (Kotb was previously married to ex-husband Burzis Kanga)
The television host then told Today that how her older daughter, Haley Joy Kotb, who she adopted in February 2017, reacted to getting a sibling.
Noting that Haley was marching around saying she was a big sister, she said, "She was trying to feed her her raspberries and I was like, 'Not yet, babe'."
The Today show took to both Twitter and Instagram to congratulate Kotb for the baby.
Here're the posts, check them out.
