The American singer, songwriter, and dancer Haley Kiyoko, whose name most of you hadn't heard before, has bagged the Push Artist of the Year Award at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards shaking off Lil Xan, Noah Cyrus, Khalid, and the likes of such high profile singers.

The event organized on 20th August 2018, saw a rise to the new artist as Terrence Jenkins was more than happy to present Hayley the award for the Push Artist of the Year.

This win marks the singer's first ever win at the VMAs. As a matter of fact, this is not only the 27 years' old's first win, this is indeed her first appearance at the MTV's Video Music Awards.

The acceptance speech was filled with joviality and tears.

I'm so happy! You make me cry!

While sharing with the audience that she has not met the famous stars yet, she joyously said,

I haven't met the famous people yet and my makeup's going to be messed up. Om my gosh, there's Blake Lively

Hayley continued on saying,

This validates any queer woman of color that you can follow your dream and I love my fans! My fans gave this to us! We did it, 20GayTeen! 2018!

The fun had just started for her! It seemed like the fun would not have only been a jiffy moment for Haley! During the pre-show, Terence also announced that the two artists Cardi B and Haley are the likely choice to be presented with the Best New Artist Award presented by the Taco Bell food chain. However, Cardi B came out as the victor during that award.

While talking to Terence, Haley also shared her story,

I just want you to know that I've been doing this for 13 years and I'm literally this kid sitting in my apartment trying to get people to listen to my music and have the opportunity and the fact that I'm even, like, Cardi B? What? It's insane.

She further added,

Two years ago, I was playing for like 50 people. This is insane.
