Gypsy Rose Blanchard is engaged to an unidentified man who she met while she was serving time in prison for the murder of her mother Dee Dee Blanchard.
A family friend, Fancy Macelli, confirmed the engagement news In Touch magazine on Thursday, April 11.
Macelli told the magazine that the 27-year-old is engaged, however, she refused to release the name of her fiancee, saying, "She keeps him very private."
We’re not going to release his name or anything like that, but she does have a fiancé. That’s something she wouldn’t have ever been able to do with her mom: be engaged.
The couple reportedly met while in a pen pal program.
He started writing her and then visited her. They just grew to have a relationship. … They’re taking it slow. They don’t know exactly what they’re going to do when she gets out. It’s a long way down the road, obviously, so things can change.
Macelli then went on to say that Gypsy’s father, Ron Blanchard, and stepmother, Kristy Blanchard, have reported a good relationship with their daughter's fiancé.
They’re actually going to meet him next month, but they’ve been communicating with him for a long time through phone calls, emails, all of that.
Gypsy keeps her romance with her fiance intact with in-person visits. She reportedly talks with him "at least several times a week, if not more."
Gypsy following the death of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, in 2015. Sources reported in 2016 that the mom faked the illness of her daughter, which led Gypsy and her now ex-boyfriend, Nick Godejohn, to murder her.
Gypsy is serving a 10-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in July 2015. Nick, meanwhile, is serving life in prison after pleading of first-degree murder.
