Hearty Condolence! Frank Parker, who is best known for portraying Grandpa Shawn Brady on Days of Our Lives, died on September 16 in Vacaville, California. He was 79.
As for the cause of death, according to his obituary in The Reporter, the veteran actor passed away due to complications of Parkinson’s disease and dementia.
In his obituary published on Legacy.com, Parker was described as “a people person” who “touched many lives and was loved by everyone.”
His family wrote, "He could light up a room with his singing voice and was known to burst into song at any moment. He was a ham and loved the spotlight. Above all, he was the most supportive, generous, kind man and father. Frank loved his family."
Shortly after Parker's death news emerged, his fans and fellow stars from the daytime drama, including Stephen Nichols and James Reynolds, took to Twitter to pay tribute to the late actor.

The actor is survived by his wife, Mary Jean Dunning Garofalo. They married in 2005 and resided in Vacaville up until he passed away.
He also leaves behind twin daughters, Lindsay Kyle and Danielle Dallas, from his first marriage to Nola Donelle Rajcok. His first-born daughter, Candace Donelle, had died in 1998 from a car accident.
A rosary is planned for on Wednesday in Parker’s honor while a funeral service is expected to be held in coming days in Los Angeles.
