Fifty Shades Freed Defies Prediction, Soars Past $120 Million Mark

Fifty Shades Freed has defied all expectations of critics, zooming past $125 million in box office earnings in the first week of its premiere. The movie was No. 1 at theatres across North America during the weekend, followed by Peter Rabbit in second place.

Based on the final book in the Fifty Shades series, written by English author E.L. James, the movie cost around $55 million to produce. Directed by James Foley, Fifty Shades Freed stars Dakota Johnsonwho has had affairs with Jordan Masterson, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Jamie Dornan.

Ticket sales of the final adaptation of the series, which came with the tagline “Don’t miss the climax,” declined slightly compared to its predecessor Fifty Shades Darker with around 16 percent less box office collection.

However, when the whole franchise is taken into consideration, the sadomasochistic series’ total box office collection exceeds $1.1 billion worldwide.
