Fernando Lujan, 'El Mil Amores' and 'Overboard' Actor, Dies at 79

Fernando Lujan, the legendary actor best known for appearing in more than 120 films and television shows during his seven decades career, has died, Mexican network TV Azteca confirmed Friday, January 11. He was 79.

TV Azteca, which collaborated with the late actor on multiple soap operas, reported that he passed away in his home in the southern state of Oaxaca.

As for the cause of death, according to TV Azteca, Fernando died due to respiratory problems.

Born on August 23, 1939, in Colombia, Fernando moved to Mexico at an early age becoming a Mexican citizen.

Fernando who launched his prolific career as a child actor, appeared in dramedy El Mil Amores (1954) at the age of 16, alongside another legendary Mexican actor, Pedro Infante.

Most recently, he appeared in 2018's drama film Overboard, starring Eugenio DerbezEva Longoria and Anna Faris.

The veteran actor also starred in the Netflix crime series Ingobernable, along with Erendira Ibarra and Kate del Castillo.

Fernando is survived by his wife Martha Mariana Castro and his 10 children. Funeral services for the late legendary actor will be announced in the coming days!
