The songstress, 44, filed the divorce paperwork on Friday, May 31, in Pasadena, California. The estranged couple, who married in January 2009 after dating for four years, shares a 5-year-old, son Axl together.
As previously reported, Fergie and the former Las Vegas star, 46, confirmed in September 2017 that they had ended their relationship.
In a joint statement to Us Weekly, they said at the time, "With absolute love and respect, we decided to separate as a couple earlier this year."
To give our family the best opportunity to adjust, we wanted to keep this a private matter before sharing it with the public. We are and will always be united in our support of each other and our family.
Shortly after the split, an told media that the pair "had been having problems for the past year."
A second source added at the time,
They are both really good people and committed to their son, but they are too different to make it work.
Later in September 2017, Fergie expressed about how amicable she and Josh were following the split.
Se confessed to Entertainment Tonight,
We’re great friends, Josh and I, there’s so much love that we have for each other. We really like each other, we have fun with each other. We’re just not a romantic couple anymore.
The Grammy-winning singer admitted during an appearance on The Wendy Williams Show in October 2017 that she had no plan for the divorce, saying, "I wanted to stay married forever."
