Doug Benson is a successful American comedian. Likewise, he is also a marijuana rights advocate, television host, actor, and reality-show judge. He is widely known for his roles in works like Best Week Ever, Last Comic Standing.
Early Life, Education, and Family Background
American comedian Doug Benson was born as Douglas Steven Benson, to Wendy (Young) and Robert Matthew Benson, on July 2, 1960, in San Diego, California.
Benson attended Grossmont College in El Cajon and was raised Methodist. During childhood, he suffered from vertigo and poor depth perception due to his close-set eyes. He stands 6 feet tall and has a pair of dark brown eyes and black hair.
Beginning as a Professional
Benson moved to Los Angeles to break in Hollywood. He began stand-up comedy when his pack of three friends dared each other to sign up and perform comedy. Despite his friends' absence, Benson performed his first act at the age of 22 and to his surprise, people found him funny.
He regularly performed stand-up comedy up until the age of 28 when he started doing pot and everything about him mainstreamed. His earliest appearance was in The A-List and Two Drink Minimum during the late 80s and early 90s. He also did some writings for MTV's game show Trashed (1994).
He is also famous for his weekly podcast Doug Loves Movies (previously known as I Love Movies with Doug Benson) and weekly talk show Getting Doug with High on YouTube.
Because Benson's material has been more or less around marijuana, he has also played the movie Super High Me in 2008, where, as a protagonist, he was compared with and without of smoking pot for a month. He has been legally battling with the filmmakers in order to stop any sequel production of the movie.
The Benson Interruption was his first show hosted singularly by him in Los Angeles from November 2010.
His other work is The High Court with Doug Benson which premiered in February 2017, where he put his judgments of real-life legal battles on the influence of marijuana.
He has also been producing his own comedy albums around April 20 (summer release date) each year consecutively since 2008.
His albums are entitled: Comedy Death-Ray, Comedy Central records, Hypocritical Oaf, Potty Mouth, Smug Life, Gateway Doug, Getaway Doug 2: Forced Fun and Promotional Tool.
He has been in controversy where he made fun of Canada at an inopportune time when Canada was at war with Afganistan.
He reportedly joked about Canada during his appearance at the comedy program Red Eye with Greg Gutfeld. He later apologized and added he will never be on Gutfeld's show again.

Benson, who is 56 years old, has never been married. His only rumored affair was with alleged girlfriend Jess Sylvia during 2009.
They were seen together a lot during that period of time and exchanged lots of public tweets. Benson who is also a gay rights advocate sometimes gets lashes for being secretly gay.
