Winner of Academy of Country Music for ACM Single Record of the Year, Don Williams is one of the oldest singer and songwriter in the present time. He is also popular for being the former lead singer of the folk-pop group Pozo-Seco Singers.

Don Williams's early life

Don Williams was born on 27 May 1939, in Floydada, Texas, the United States of America to American parents; Loveta Mae and James Andrew "Jim" Williams.

He was the youngest of three sons born to his parents. His brother Kenneth Williams died when he accidentally electrocuted by touching a live wire. Don is of American nationality and white ethnicity.

Don's mother was a musician and that was how he learned how to play the guitar. When he was just three, he began singing and he also competed in the singing competition from that age.

At the age of three, Don Williams sang in the local talent contest, he also won this competition and he received an alarm clock as the first prize.

Don Williams was raised in Portland, Texas and there he attended Gregory-Portland High School. He finally earned his high school graduation in 1958.

Don Williams' musical career

In early 1960, Don Williams formed his first band The Strangers Two with Lofton Kline. Together they performed for several years and then he joined Pozo-Seco Singers after Susan Taylor convinced her to join them in 1964.

They were signed to Edmark Records and recorded their debut single Time in 1966. Their debut album Time was also released the same year.

They signed with Columbia Records and they released three albums. Other big names associated with Columbia Records are John Mayer, Adele, and Pharrell Williams, to name some. They had several hit singles but the band disbanded in 1971 and then he began pursuing his solo career.

Since the start of his solo career, Don Williams released 25 major studio albums and 2 live albums. His 2012 album, And So It Goes, was a huge musical success and includes guest appearances from other artists like Alison Krauss and Keith Urban.

On 10th of April 1960, Don Williams got married to Joy B. Bucher. The couple reportedly dated and had a romantic relationship before their wedding.

Joy Bucher is a lovely lady and an amazing housewife. As a loving husband and wife, they have also been parents to two children and both of them are sons and their names are Gary Williams and Timmy Williams. We don't see any rumors about their extra affairs and divorce.

Don Williams died on September 8, 2017, in Mobile, Alabama. He died at his home at Alabama after suffering from a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease which results difficulting in breathing and poor air flow.
