Discover Channel Storm Chasers star, Joel Taylor has passed away at the age of 38 on Tuesday. He was found dead on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship docked in San Juan, Puerto Rico. His family confirmed the news to CNN
On behalf of his family, funeral director Richard Duggar II released a statement that read:
We can confirm that Joel Taylor has passed away while on a cruise. The cause of the death has not yet been determined. We ask for your understanding during this difficult time and your respect for the family while they deal with the loss of their son.
Taylor was traveling overseas the ship when the police discovered him departed in his cabin. A native of Elk City, Oklahoma, Taylor appeared on the reality show series from 2008 until its termination in 2012. He is a graduate of Meteorology from the University of Oklahoma. He also met his future co-star Reed Timmer in the university with whom he appeared in the 2003 documentary "Tornado Glory."
Timmer also revealed the news of his friend through Twitter where he wrote:
I am shocked and absolutely devastated by the loss of my incredible, caring friend. We chased so many intense storms, and I wish we could have just one more storm chase. I'll miss you forever, Joel. We lost a legend.

The cause of death is suspected to be the drug overdose. The passenger in the ship claimed that Taylor had ingested lager amount of addictive narcolepsy medication GHB. However, the final postmortem report is yet to come.
