Footage on Sahar TV showed firefighters battling intense flames as they billowed out of a single-storey wooden building with bars over the windows. The station reported that the fire tore through a part of the clinic where inpatients sleep.
The blaze, which broke at 06:10 am local time (02:10 am GMT) on Friday morning at the Republican Narcological Dispensary in the city's Khatai district, was fanned by strong winds and it reportedly took approximately three hours for firefighters to extinguish it.
Preliminary investigations blamed short circuit in the building's electrical network for the deadly blaze, however, the exact cause of the fire has still been under investigation.
