Dennis Shields, the on-off boyfriend of Real Housewives of New York star Bethenny Frankel was found dead in his Manhattan apartment on Friday, August 10 and as for the cause of death, he reportedly died of an apparent drug overdose.
The New York Police confirmed a man of age 51 was found "unconscious and unresponsive" in his in Trump Tower and was pronounced dead by emergency responders shortly after 10 a.m.
According to The New York Post and local NBC, the death is being investigated as a possible overdose.
A spokeswoman for the NYPD, Cadet Taylor Cannon, said she could not confirm his identity. However, according to a spokeswoman for the New York Medical Examiner's Office, Aja Worthy-Davis, the agency is investigating the death of a man believed to be Dennis.
The agency further added that it would release both the cause and manner of his death after the autopsy will be completed.
Dennis' wife Jill Shields issued a statement that appears to confirm his death.
She says, "We are all heartbroken. Dennis was, and will always be, the love of my life. His spirit lives on in our children. Please respect our family’s privacy at this time."
Dennis, who is the CEO of litigation funding company LawCash, previously was in a relationship with RHONY star Bethenny, who shares daughter Bryn 8, with former husband Jason Hoppy.
