1952

Scott Simon was born on 16 March 1952 in Chicago, Illinois, the United Staes of America to Ernie Simon and Patricia Lyons. He grew up alongside his sister, who died at a very young age.

David Scott Simon, professionally known as Scott Simon is an American journalist and the host of Weekend Edition Saturday on NPR. His father Ernie Simon is a comedian and mother Patricia Lyons is a renowned actress.

At the age of 16, Simon lost his father. After the death of her husband, his mother Patricia Lyons later married Ralph G. Newman, an author and a former minor league baseball player who owns the Abraham Lincoln Bookshop in Chicago. Simon is a graduate of the Nicholas Senn High School. 

At the beginning of his career, Simon worked at several media station and in 1977, he landed a job in NPR as Chicago bureau chief, where he served for over 3 decades.
