Thile's singing career began with his first album Little Cowpoke along with his music partner Sara Watkins and Sean Watkins. They met at a pizza place in Carlsbad, California while listening to weekly bluegrass shows with their parents. Their Album became a huge hit and won the "Grammy Award" for Best Contemporary Folk Album.
After the success of his first album, he quietly built an impression by releasing his solo Albums like Not All Who Wander Are Lost in 2001 and Deceiver in 2004 which was composed, written, and sang by him.
