Cardi B Is to Open MTV VMAs 2018 One Month After Welcoming Daughter With Husband Offset

The MTV VMAs 2018's most-nominated performer will grace Radio City Music Hall with the presence of Cardi B on Monday, August 20.

On Wednesday, August 15, MTV announced that the 25-year-old rapper will kick off the awards show with her first live performance since she welcomed her first child, daughter Kulture Kiari with her husband Offset.

Landing the opening number slot comes as a full circle moment for the songstress, who attended her first Video Music Show Award in 2017 as a pre-show performer.

This time, the Bodak Yellow singer nominated in 10 different categories, beating out starts likes BeyoncéDrake and Jay-Z.

MTV previously announced that VMAs acts include Jennifer Lopez (who will receive the Video Vanguard Award), Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande, Travis ScottShawn Mendes, Post Malone, Logic and Panic! at the Disco.

Additionally, BazziThe Backstreet Boys and Bryce Vine will headline the pre-show festivities.

After announcing her pregnancy in April, Cardi B decided to scale back her professional endeavors to best prepare for the arrival of her first child.

Most recently, Cardi even ultimately pulled out of Bruno Mars' 24K Magic World Tour to focus on the new born.

She explained at the time,

I think I underestimated this whole mommy thing. Not only am I just not ready physically, I'm not ready to leave my baby behind since the doctors explained it's not healthy for her to be on the road.

The MTV VMAs 2018 airs Monday, Aug. 20 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.
