According to the studios, the movie is the seventh largest opening for an MCU movie and second for a solo-led Marvel movie. One of the biggest March openings also set a new worldwide mark for a movie directed by a woman, Anna Boden, and Ryan Fleck.

Walt Disney's Captian Marvel opened with just $61 million on the first day. On the second day of its release, it grossed around $114 million. The day three of airing the movie, i.e on Sunday it collected the staggering sum of $155 million.

Apart from the box office records, it also rocketed up other records books. It is the sixth largest worldwide debut ever.

Furthermore, internationally making an estimated $302 million made it the fifth highest international opening weekend of all-time.

As per records, only movies The Avengers, Black Panther, Captain America: Civil Wars and Iron Man 3 have had recorded better box office from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Leading the way, the movie opening in China earned $89.3 million which made this movie the third largest MCU opening weekend ever. Besides China, Captain Marvel collected South Korea($24.1m), UK ($16.8m), Brazil ($13.4m), Mexico ($12.8m), Australia ($10.7m), Indonesia ($10.1m), Russia ($9.8m), France ($9.2m), Germany ($7.8m), India ($6.9m), Thailand ($6.6m), Taiwan ($6.4m), Philippines ($6.3m), Malaysia ($5.6m), Italy ($5.5m) and Hong Kong ($5.2m).

On the contrary, the anti-“Captain Marvel” campaign included the flooding of audience scores, in Rotten Tomatoes to 80% and IMDb 7 out of 10.

Well for Disney, it is a strong start for a year with a long list of releases including the ones to surely surpass Captain Marvel, such as Avengers: Endgame, Toy Story 4, and a remake of The Lion King.

Captain Marvel scared away it's competing releases. Movies including The Kid, How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, documentary Apollo 11, A Madea Family Funeral and many more were easily surpassed with a great difference of box office collection.

Captain Marvel featured Brie Larson as the lead role and other main member casts included Jude Law, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Gemma Chan, Lee Pace, and other famed actors and actress.
