Brazilian Model Caroline Bittencourt Dies While Trying to Save Her Dogs

37-year-old Brazilian model Caroline Bittencourt died while trying to save her dogs from drowning at a Sao Paulo beach. 

According to Globo, Bittencourt reportedly jumped off a catamaran while trying to rescue her dogs, who had fallen out of the boat.

Caroline's father-in-law, Alfredo Sestini, informed Globo that the model's husband, Jorge Sestini, then jumped into the water to attempt to rescue his drowning wife.

He rescued himself hours later.

According to Alfredo Sestini, the Brazilian model's body was recovered on late Monday near Cigarras Beach of Sao Paulo.

Caroline's daughter, Isabelle Bittencourt, shared a post on Instagram, which read as follows,

We are grateful for the support and affectionate messages we have received from Carol’s friends and fans, 

This energy drive fills our hearts with so much love.

The Brazilian model's agent, Andrea Bonetti, said Caroline's husband was in a "state of shock."

Jorge tried to save her. He saw Carol drowning and wasn't able to save her. It was a terrible moment for him,

Caroline Bittencourt worked for OXYgen Models, who informed Globo,

We are grateful for all the trust she has placed in us in these years of work and partnership, our condolences to the friends and family of the victim.

Bittencourt's death comes only after days a Brazilian model participating in Sao Paulo's Fashion Week died while walking down a ramp.
