As reported by E! News, the couple was officially declared single by the judge after they filed for a bifurcated judgment on Friday.
The rest of the terms for the divorce proceedings, including the custody of the children and the financial settlements are yet to be finalized.
Talking on the further divorce proceedings, Jolie's lawyer Samantha Bley DeJean stated,
A custody arrangement was agreed to weeks ago, and has been signed by both parties and the judge. The agreement, which is based on the recommendations of the child custody evaluator, eliminates the need for a trial. The filing and details of the agreement are confidential to protect the best interests of the children.
Back in August, Angelina filed a court document asking for child support from Brad and also asked Brad to retroactively pay for what he allegedly missed in the informal agreement.
However, Jolie's claim about the Seven Years in Tibet actor not paying child support was sternly denied by Pitt's attorney Lance Spiegel, calling her claims “unnecessary” and “a thinly veiled effort to manipulate media coverage."
Well, the proceedings are in process and it will hopefully be finalized very soon. Angelina and Brad first filed for divorce in September 2016, almost 12 years into their marriage.
