Bill Cosby was born in middle class family as William Henry Cosby Jr. in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States of America to Anna Pearl and William Henry Cosby Sr. His father was once a mess steward in the U.S. Navy. He is an American and is black.

1956

Joined Navy

While Bill was in Mary Channing Wister Public School, he was an avid sportsman. He was the class clown as well as the captain of baseball team and the track and field team. However, in 1956 he joined US Navy. He also served as a physical therapist in the Korean War.

1962

Began his stand up career

As his family condition was humble, he also worked as a selling produce, shining shoes, and stocking shelves at a supermarket. After being in Temple University for about a year, he quit Temple University and began pursuing his comedy career. He began his career as a standup comedian from 1962 at The Gaslight Cafe.

After he began his stand up career in 1962, he won several shows in cities like Chicago, Las Vegas and San Francisco. Besides having good reputation as an actor, he has been criticized for rapping and sexually abusing over 50 women and children. He has been accused of sexual assaults, sexual misconduct and child sexual abuses in the early 1960s.

On 25th of January 1964, Bill got married to the love of his life Camille Cosby. Camille Cosby is a television producer, author, and philanthropist. The married couple is parents of five children, daughters; Erika Ranee, Erinn Chalene Cosby, Ensa Cosby and Evin Harrah Cosby, and son Ennis Cosby. Their only son Ennis was murdered on January 16, 1997.

Bill is subjected to highly publicized sexual misconduct allegations from the mid-1960s. He has been accused by multiple women of either rape, drug-facilitated sexual assault, sexual battery and child sex abuse. In October 2014 Bill's sexual allegations assault became more public after comedian Hannibal Buress drew attention towards his sexual allegations during an onstage performance. Thereafter many additional claims were made to date.

Then followed by his albums - To Russell, My Brother, Whom I Slept With. Whom I Slept With was ranked No, 1 on Spin Magazine's list of The 40 Greatest Comedy Albums of All Time.

He began his acting career in 1965. That year, he appeared on NBC' adventure series I Spy. I Spy became the twenty-most watched shows that year, and Bill was announced as the recipient of three consecutive Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in Drama Series. During the series run, Bill also continued with his stand-up comedy and recorded a half-dozen record albums for Warner Bros. In Jun 1968, he was asked for a five-year contract renewal worth $3.5 million, which he turned town to record for his own record label.

 Billy went on to pursue a variety of TV projects and appeared as a regular host on the The Tonight Show and in 1969, he came with his show, The Billy Cosby Show. He played a physical education teacher at a Los Angeles high school in the series. Bill's greatest success in TV series came in September 1984, with the debut of his show, The Cosby Show. He involved himself in creative control, co-producing the series. The show ran until 1992.

His net worth is said to be around $400 million. Bill made most of his fortune from his TV shows, in 1996, for his role in Cosby, he earned the salary of $1,000,000 per episode. His annual income is reported $25 million.
