Barkha Dutt was born on 18th December 1971 in New Delhi. Her father name is S.P. Dutt who was an Air India Officer and mother name is Prabha Dutt who served as a journalist for the Hindustan Times. She holds Indian Nationality and belongs to Asian Ethnicity.

1990

Attended St. Stephen's College.

Barkha was once enrolled at St. Stephen's College located in Delhi. She pursued her degree in English Literature. After that, she joined Jami Milla Islamia Mass Communication Research Center and earned her Master's in Mass Communication.

Dutt graduated from St. Stephen’s College with the degree in English literature, Master’s in Mass Communication from Jamia Millia Islamia Mass Communication Research Center and obtained her Master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.

Barkha started her career at NDTV covering the Kargil war with an exclusive interview of Captain Vikram Bata and also covered Pakistan, Kashmir, Iraq and Afghanistan war. She had also classified attackers and victims of Gujrat violence and also covered Oberoi Trident & Taj Mahal Hotel attack. Her act pulled her into controversy for putting victim’s lives at risk by broadcasting live at the time.
