Austin Powers star Verne Troyer, who portrayed the role of Mini-Me in the franchise, has passed away. The 2ft 8 ins tall actor was 49.
Austin died on Friday, April 20, just weeks after being admitted to a psychiatric hospital in Los Angeles. He had been battling alcoholism and depression for a while.

"The Pauly Shore is Dead" actor was involuntarily taken into the by paramedics after his friends contacted emergency services, concerned he was "drunk" and extremely "upset and suicidal". As per reports, Verne, who was briefly married to model Genevieve Gallen in 2004, was kept in the hospital for 72 hours.
The cause of his death isn't clear yet, but as per a message posted on his social media accounts, the actor was in depression and he chose to die. It said,
Verne was an extremely caring individual. He wanted to make everyone smile, be happy, and laugh.
Depression and suicide are very serious issues. You never know what kind of battle someone is going through inside.
Be kind to one another. And always know, it’s never too late to reach out to someone for help.
