Ashton, known for his confident investment in bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies, stopped by Ellen's show to announce some great news.
Also, the co-founder of San Francisco-based cryptocurrency firm Ripple, Ashton on behalf of Ripple, made the payment in XRP as they were looking up to give a portion of this platform away to people that are doing good in the world.
Taking the situation in a calm way, Ashton soon after his entrance asked Ellen about what she is up to. For which Ellen DeGeneres replied:
"I'm getting ready to go on vacation. I'm going to Africa to start building the campus. I'm going to look at where I'm going to build my campus to save the mountain gorillas."
On the 60th birthday, Ellen was gifted The Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund by her wife Portia De Rossi. And now, Ashton was there to talk about the subject of the fund, later joined by his business partner Guy Oseary.
Starting with the talk of his business venture with Ripple, Ashton continued:
"You never ask anyone for help ever, but the same time you call him(Oseary)."
Then, Oseary joined:
"I promised you on that call on your birthday that I'd be there to help you and Ashton and I, are brothers and we're here to help you."
Ashton then took out the mobile from his pocket and said:
"You're always thinking about everyone else and we wanted to show you that people are thinking about you. So, on behalf of Ripple, we'd like to give you $4 million.
Usually people come out with the big, giant check and do the big giant check thing, but we can actually transfer it into Rwandan franks right now right here and all we have to do is push this button and it's in your account."
And the massive donation was done in a second after Ellen pushed the button.
Meanwhile, Ripple has also donated millions of dollars worth of XRP to non-profit organizations in recent months.
