She was born to father who is Scottish and mother who is Danish. She was born and raised in Edinburg. She was educated in Harrogate Ladies College. Her passion towards politics had enrooted inside her from the very early age.

1977

Graduated from University of Edinburgh

She had the clear mindset of achieving what she dreamt of. Her passion towards politics never seem to get fade away so she decided to study Bachelor in Law and did her graduation 1977 from University of Edinburgh at the age of 23

1983

Became political advisor to European Democrats

Before joining European Democrats she had worked in Community Law office as an advocate. She managed to gather enough information for herself to be qualified enough to work as a political advisor later. She worked with the group in European Parliament for almost 6 years.

1992

Married to John Harvey

The time when she decided to get married was the prolific period of time. It was the time when she was gathering enough experience to work with bigger Democrats. But, she managed to calm down the pressure and made the decision to wed John Harvey.

1997

Elected to House of Commons

She was elected to the House of Commons in the election held in 1997 for Vale of York. She won the election comprehensively with 9,721 majorities. She managed to held the seat for more than 12 years before being abolished in the year 2010

2010

Returned to Parliament

With the demolishing of the UK Independence party, she won the majority with 11,281 and returned to Parliament in the election 2010 held in Thrisk and Malton. She was elected Chair of Environment, Food and Rural Affair Select Committee.

She started her career as a trainee at European Committee competition Derectorate and later joined Didier and associates in 1979 as a legal adviser. She worked as political advisor to European Democrats group in European parliament for almost six years. She then became the member of European Parliament from the year 1989 to 1999. Recently, she has been sitting at the House of Lords. In 1997, as a member of parliament to the House of Commons in 1997 General Election for the Vale of York she was elected. 

Although her profession may restrict her to give more time for her family but she manages to maintain the balance. She was married to John Harvey in September 1992 and has been living together. The couple has a house in the constituency which is near to the Thirsk. The profession she is at and the limited time she gets for her could probably be the reason for the isolation of using social networking site.
