American reality competition, "American Idol" has Katy Perry as a new judge this year.
The announcement was made official by ABC at its Upfront presentation on Tuesday. The singer will feature the show as the judge as soon as the show will begin its broadcast at its new network this year.

Following the announcement, the singer took to twitter to show her excitement regarding the new assignment.
"SO thrilled @ABCNetwork is bringing back @AmericanIdol, and I'm bringing it back to the MUSIC see you at auditions," Perry tweeted.

Talking about her selection as a judge, the Grammy-nominated singer said, "“I am honoured and thrilled to be the first judge bringing back the ‘American Idol’ tradition of making dreams come true for incredible talents with authentic personalities and real stories."
"I’m always listening to new music, and love discovering diamonds in the rough, from mentoring young artists on my label, or highlighting new artists on my tours, I want to bring it back to the music." She further added.
