Huma Mahmood Abedin, an American political staffer who was vice chair of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign for President of the United States, has filed for divorce from former American politician Anthony Weiner on May 19.

The couple got married on 2010.The seven years of relationship has come to an end as Weiner pleaded guilty to one count of transferring obscene material to a minor, on 19 May 2017.The 40-years-old, Huma Abedin suddenly filed for divorce that same day.

At the hearing Friday, Weiner, 52, accepted responsibility for his conduct.

”I have a sickness, but I do not have an excuse,” he said through pauses and bouts of tears in an emotional statement. He further added, “I apologize to everyone I have hurt.I apologize to the teenage girl, whom I mistreated so badly.”
As part of the plea agreement, Weiner will be registering as a sex offender and also will have to lose his iPhone, surrender his passport and continue mental health treatment.He is also barred from having any contact with the minor.
 “I love him, I have forgiven him, I believe in him,” Huma Abedin told reporters.Fool me once, shame on you.Fool Huma Abedin four times, and she will still take you back.The statement suits on her nature.

Anthony Weiner has been involving in multiple sex scandals related to sexting, which is the sending of explicit sexual material by cell phone.

According to the New York Post, on August 28, 2016, Weiner had engaged in sexting with another woman, including sending one picture in July 2015, while lying in bed with his toddler son sleeping next to him.

On September 21, 2016, the Daily Mail published an article claiming that Weiner had engaged in sexting with a 15-year-old girl. The article was used as a reason for the FBI and NYPD to begin investigating Weiner, as the sources found the woman’s father had not reported to the police.

The case was re-open and the devices owned by Weiner and Abedin were seized as part of the investigation into this incident.

The Federal prosecutors were weighing to bring child pornography charges against Weiner over the incident, according to The Wall Street Journal, on January 31, 2017.
On May 19, 2017, the New York Times reported Weiner had surrendered to the FBI that morning, and under a plea bargain, he intended to plead guilty to a single charge of transferring obscene material to a minor. He is to be sentenced September 8.Abedin reportedly filed for divorce prior to his guilt.
